Talespinner drops you into a world built from Japanese folklore, but here you’re not just playing the hero, you’re spinning the tale as well. Pick from three characters, each with their own card set and playstyle, then build out synergies as you battle your way through yokai, ninja clans and vengeful spirits.

What we really like is how much control you get over the story itself. Your storybook lets you tweak encounters on the fly, dialling up the difficulty for better loot or easing off when you fancy a smoother run. Every scenario branches off into different twists too, so chasing down Hanzo Hattori or hunting the Ice Lady in the mountains never plays out quite the same way twice.

With over 200 battle cards, 50+ enemies, 15 bosses and nine distinct biomes to explore, there’s a proper mountain of content here. Combat has some clever wrinkles as well, since hostile forces can mess with your cards mid fight, so you’re constantly adapting rather than just running the same deck on autopilot.
