The Tally
The Tally is a life simulation game developed by aninsecurecarrot. The player starts out in Corvid City needing to find work and pay rent, and spends their time working shifts, getting to know the regular residents, taking photographs for the Tourism Board and travelling around on a skateboard. Along the way they make many small decisions, all of which are recorded by the game.
When the character’s life ends, the player is presented with THE RECEIPT, an itemised account of their actions, including acts of kindness, shortcuts, held doors and lies. Based on this total, the player is sorted into an outcome. The game has no tutorials and no on-screen indicator showing whether the player’s behaviour is considered good or bad.
The city is hand-built in a PS2-era visual style and includes jobs, shops, changing weather and regular characters who remember the player. A complete life takes around 90 minutes to play through. Features include eight jobs, a phone with several apps, a camera and a skateboard. The game has a defined ending, and what follows THE RECEIPT is not disclosed in the description.
