The Things We Don’t See: 10 Interactive Stories of Horror, Mystery, and the Unknown
The Things We Don’t See is a choice-driven interactive fiction anthology made up of ten separate stories. Each one follows a different set of characters through a single night, and the stories can be played in any order. There is no shared protagonist, and the tone shifts from story to story, covering suburban horror, body horror, cave horror, corporate conspiracy, first-contact science fiction and stalker thriller.
Every story is built around decisions made by the player, with each one splitting into multiple routes depending on those choices. Across the full anthology there are over forty possible endings. Completing all ten stories unlocks a hidden eleventh file that is not available from the start.
The ten stories include Witness, in which two teenagers see something inside a police officer’s house; Sweet Boy, about a family taking in a child whom one member believes is not what he appears to be; Overtime, in which a financial analyst uncovers a corporate conspiracy; Hunted, set in an abandoned hospital; Deadfall, following a covert operative inside a corporate facility; Null Signal, told from the perspective of an alien observer; Last Delivery, about a courier whose aerocar goes down with contested cargo; The Stone Hour, set beneath a cave entrance; The Experiment, concerning a paid medical trial with unexpected effects; and Thirty Feet Away, in which a man who has watched a woman for thirty-one nights finds himself observed in turn.
