Tom’s Last Adventure
Tom’s Last Adventure is a 2D precision platformer built around a high level of difficulty. Players are expected to fail and retry individual screens many times, with the developer stating that a full playthrough takes roughly two to six hours. The structure is linear and focused, with a steep difficulty curve throughout.
Tom’s core movement set consists of running, a double jump and a quick dash, used to get past deadly traps. Collectible stars found in the air temporarily change these options. A White Star sets off a flash that lights up the surroundings and reveals platforms and routes hidden in darkness. A Blue Star grants one additional mid-air jump. A Green Star lets the player throw a small sphere and teleport to its position, either by pressing the button again or when the sphere hits a solid surface. Teleportation Mirrors act as portals that can move either Tom or the Green Star’s sphere, and these are combined to form movement puzzles and longer traversal sequences.
The story follows Tom, a feline angel who leaves the heavens and descends towards Earth so that he can be found and adopted by a young boy. Each level and abyss is presented as one of the fears and barriers he has to overcome on the way down.
