Veridus The Walking Nightmare
Veridus The Walking Nightmare is a single-player dark-fantasy action roguelite. Lord Veydris has pulled Abigail into a hostile dream populated by nightmares, and the player controls Ganon as he follows her in, fighting through fifteen waves of enemies that grow more dangerous as a run progresses. The game is built around wave-based combat, build experimentation and permanent progression carried between attempts.
During a run the player moves, dashes and positions Ganon against hordes of enemies while the equipped weapon attacks nearby targets automatically. This leaves the player to concentrate on movement, survival and build decisions. There are seven weapons, each with its own combat identity and special technique, and up to four abilities can be combined with a weapon imbuement. Equipment drops across multiple rarities with randomised bonuses that can be compared, and attributes such as damage, defence, movement and critical strikes can be strengthened. Dash charges are limited and must be managed as enemies and hazards fill the battlefield.
Dying does not reset everything. Players earn Dream Legacy points and Nightmare Shards, which are spent on permanent upgrades and on expanding the available arsenal for later runs. Surviving all fifteen waves leads to a multi-phase final battle against Lord Veydris. Defeating him unlocks Nightmare Mode, which applies modifiers to subsequent runs including faster enemies, larger hordes, elite enemies and other new threats.
