A turn-based tactical strategy game set in the Warhammer 40,000 universe, offering two playable factions, the Adeptus Mechanicus and the Necrons, each with their own campaign.

Warhammer 40,000: Mechanicus II is a turn-based tactical strategy game set on a world contested by the Adeptus Mechanicus and the Necron Sankhotep dynasty. Players can take control of either Magos Dominus Faustinius, leading the Mechanicus forces, or Vargard Nefershah, commanding the awakening Necron legions, each with a separate narrative campaign and distinct playstyle.

The game involves assembling squads, deploying them in tactical battles, and using faction-specific abilities and environmental mechanics. The Mechanicus can use terrain for cover, while the Necrons are able to destroy it. Players fight to capture and defend regions across the game world, managing resources and garrisons while selecting units from an expanded roster for each mission. Tech-Priest leaders can be upgraded as part of Faustinius’s entourage, while Necron nobles can be customised under Nefershah’s command.

The story is written by Ben Counter, a Black Library author, and continues the narrative from the original Mechanicus game. It features multiple interwoven campaigns with narrative events that respond to player choices, shaping the course and outcome of the conflict. The game includes music and audio design by composer Guillaume David, alongside detailed illustrations and environments depicting the Warhammer 40,000 setting.
