Windweaver
Windweaver is a boost-style 3D platformer built in Unity. The player controls Jonathan, a character who has lost the ability to fly and instead travels on foot at high speed. The game is built around holding momentum across sloped terrain and large gaps, with a story in which the player gradually uncovers the truth behind a mysterious beam of light that brought Jonathan down.
Movement centres on a wind energy resource. The Dash spends this energy to propel Jonathan forward on the ground, in the air or along walls. The Dive sends him back towards the ground for quick adjustments and downward force, the Fallcharge builds wind energy back up after a slowdown, and the Wallrun is used in sections that weave along vertical surfaces. Jonathan’s movement can be further altered by equipping Pins, of which there are dozens. Named examples include the Slipstream Pin for raw speed, the Bounce Pin for staying airborne and the Speed Pin for building velocity, and Pins can be upgraded at a Blacksmith.
Between stages there is an explorable world containing characters and locations such as the town of Dyebrook and the Copper Cliffs, where side quests and errands are available. Stage types include Time Attack, with ranks from E up to W, Rival Races against other characters, Seed Hoarder collection runs that test routing, and Boss Showdowns that end in quick-time sequences. An online mode allows players to join multiplayer lobbies, vote on stages and modes, and race one another in real time. At the time of writing the game is still in development, with a playable demo and a public Steam playtest planned.
