Your Story: Games with Death

Your Story: Games with Death is an interactive text quest in the Choose Your Own Adventure genre. It follows a young adventurer during the Middle Ages who wants to leave his hometown and travel to unfamiliar lands. The player directs the plot through their decisions, and the developer describes the story as one in which death is the expected outcome unless the player manages to alter it. The game is now released on Steam, having previously been listed as in development.

The journey takes the character across the seas, through jungles and into ancient ruins, with the option to pursue wealth or live as a wanderer. The game contains more than 2,000 events that affect how the story unfolds, and over 200 possible deaths, many of which cut the story short before its mysteries can be resolved. Decisions that appear correct can still lead to the character’s death, and the developer states that the consequences of choices are not always predictable.

Three difficulty levels are included. The easiest is intended for players who mainly want to follow the story, while the hardest is designed so that death is a constant risk throughout. The game is presented as a visual novel with multiple possible endings depending on the path taken.
