AKIBA LOST

AKIBA LOST is a live-action suspense game developed and published by IzanagiGames, with Shinsuke Umeda as director and producer. It combines a multi-perspective visual novel format with live-action cinematics and a 360° camera system. The game is set in Akihabara, Tokyo, and won the Future Division of the 2025 Japan Game Awards.

The story begins 13 years after six girls vanished in Akihabara in a series of unsolved cases known as The Akiba Vanishing. Game creator Daiki Shinjo, played by Hiromitsu Kitayama, announces at the Tokyo Game Expo that he is making a game based on the incident, and new disappearances soon follow. A threatening phone call and the sudden disappearance of his sister Aoi mark the start of events. The cast of seven also includes an underground idol, a food writer, a shrine maiden, a cosplayer and a game streamer, each connected to Akihabara’s subculture and played by a different actress.

Players can switch between characters to experience the same timeline from different perspectives, and one character’s decision can affect another’s fate. The story branches according to the player’s choices, which can change the ending. The 360° camera lets players look around from each character’s point of view. A Freeze and Activate feature lets players unlock story paths that are frozen for one character by progressing through another character’s story. Buddy characters accompany the player through the story.
