Hexarchy
Hexarchy takes the classic 4X formula, build cities, gather resources, research tech, wage war, and speeds the whole thing up with some clever deckbuilding mechanics. Instead of scrolling through endless tech trees, you’re adopting civics and researching technologies that shape your deck and your strategy as you go. It’s still got all the empire building depth you’d want, just without the marathon session.
You can trade your way to power through the global market, spend hard earned resources on wonders that actually change how the game plays, or just build an army and take what you want. Combat is properly tactical too, with terrain, supply lines and pillaging all playing a part rather than just numbers bashing together. Pick from 13 civilizations, each with their own unit and bonuses, so no two games feel quite the same.
There’s a solid pile of ways to play as well. Jump into a quick singleplayer skirmish, chase a spot on the leaderboard in daily and weekly challenges, team up with your civilization’s other players in the Hegemon Challenge, or take your empire into PvP ladder matches. Fancy keeping your mates on side? Cooperative multiplayer lets you gang up against the AI instead. Easy to pick up, properly deep once you’re in, and quick enough that one more turn really does just mean one more game.
