Moon Swarm

Moon Swarm is an idle auto-battler in which the player defends a moon from continuous waves of alien creatures. The game is designed to occupy a small area of the desktop, so it can be left running while the player works, browses the web, watches videos or plays other games.

The core loop involves placing defensive guns that fire automatically at incoming enemies. Defeated aliens drop gold, which is spent on upgrades to damage, fire rate, range and other abilities, allowing the player’s setup to cope with progressively tougher waves. Additional weapon types can be unlocked over time, each with its own strengths, and the player can combine them in different configurations.

Surviving waves lets the player travel to new planets, which introduce different enemies, environments and challenges. The game can be played actively, with the player monitoring progress and upgrading as needed, or passively, with defences left to operate on their own while attention is elsewhere.
